SafetyFast! Notes – Aug 15

With last month’s Safety Fast landing on the doorstep so soon after MGLive there was no time to report on the California Cup organised by the centre.
The time spent by the SW Centre team of Antony Pope, Chris Rigby and Martin Skelton honing their skills at our recent MGs on Grass event must have paid off after a very successful day at Silverstone. Finishing 2nd overall, the team were also the first recipients of the new Longbridge Trophy awarded to the top register team driving more modern machinery. Anthony Pope also picked up the Kimber Trek Trophy for the best SW Centre member at the event.

As always thanks to members of the centre who gave up their time on Friday and Saturday to help set up and marshal the event. With more events on the horizon we are always in need of more volunteers to help organise and run our events, if you can help out please get in touch with a member of the committee
A week after Silverstone was our summer social run to Lacock Abbey near Chippenham organised by Alan Diamond and Dave Heath.

Organising a picnic during the British Summer it was perhaps no big surprise that the weather was less the spectacular but thankfully the worse of the predicted rain stayed away. There was a good turnout of 27 cars spanning much of the marque’s history from MMM and T-Types to Midgets, Bs, a Metro turbo and Fs.
We were given a prime location within the walled courtyard and over lunch the cars were attracting considerable attention not only from fellow owners but many of the National Trust’s visitors.
