MGCC SW Centre Spring Newsletter 2017

Welcome to the spring newsletter of the MG Car Club South Western Centre.  Saturday 8th April sees the start of our Drivers Championship events with the MGs on Grass Autotest at Hartley Farm, Gloucester Road, Charmy Down, Bath. BA1 8AF.  The event is being organised by Victoria Jones and she can be contacted via email peterandvictoria@icloud.com.  The event is being run as both an ‘All Forward Autotest’ and a ‘Production Car Autotest’ (PCA).  The advantage of PCA is that drivers as young as 14 can participate (with a licenced driver in the passenger seat) or a passenger of 12 can be driven by a driver with a full licence.  By adding this PCA element we are hoping that some more of you will take part in the event.  Full details are available on the website at http://www.mgccsw.com/event/mgs-on-grass-1-2017/

John Delafield competing at last years MGOG1

Following on from the Autotest is the annual Wye Valley Social Run.which this year is being held on Sunday May 7th.  Terry Davies, terryfredadavies@btinternet.com is the contact and the route will again be spectacular  in and around the Wye Valley.

The next event is the Kimber Classic Trial on Saturday May 13th.  Starting once again at the Lanes Hotel, this annual event draws MGs from all over the area and some from the continent as well.  It will comprise around 10 trials ‘Sections’ with normal roads between each section.  Andrew Owst is the Secretary of the meeting (andrewowst@hotmail.com) and Bruce Weston (bruceweston@tiscali.co.uk) is desperately looking for marshals.  Without marshals this event cannot run so please if you have some time on the 13th May contact Bruce and offer your services.

I am on the lookout for MG cars to be displayed at this years Bristol Classic Car Show, being held at the Shepton Mallet Showground on 17th & 18th of June.  Cars will need to be on site by 16:00 on June 16th and cannot leave until 17:00 on the 18th.  If you have a car that you think is worthy of display please contact me at chairman@mgccsw.com.

That is all for this newsletter, enjoy your MG and please drive Safety Fast.
