SafetyFast! Notes – June 2017

The year is marching past and the summer season is in full swing. Our events are proving as popular as ever; if you head to our new and revamped website you will find event reports and details of future opportunities to enjoy your MG. Recently added articles include a report on the well supported Wye Valley Social Run and the ever popular Kimber Classic Trial.

Looking to the future and you will find an unfortunate clash. This year the Bristol Classic Car Show at Shepton Mallet is on June 17-18. This year the same weekend as MGLive! at Silverstone, bad planning indeed, and it means that Centre resources are somewhat stretched. For the first time for many years we won’t have an ‘official’ presence at Silverstone, although I am sure many members will make their own way there. If you are visiting the Classic Car Show then make sure you say hello to the volunteers manning our stand.

Moving on, and our summer social will be held on July 2 this year at the East Somerset Railway. A mixture of steam trains and classic cars with good company thrown in the make this an unmissable day out. Proving it’s a busy month the following weekend of June 25 is the Auto Aero day at the Cotswold Airfield at the Cotswold Airfield.

Steam trains one weekend and classic airplanes the next, show we cater for all forms of transport. This one is held in conjunction with the Bullpup Flying Club, with a scenic drive to Hagley Hall at 10:15am, the cars returning in the afternoon in time for a mass fly-past if weather permits.

Details of both these events can be found on the website, along with many recently found photos dating back to the sixties. Our new Competition Secretary, Ian Beningfield, has spent many hours developing the website and publishing archive material we haven’t been able to share in the past. It’s well worth a visit!

Plenty going on this month so make sure you get out and about in your MG!
