Bristol Classic Car Show 2017 Report

Event Report for the Bristol Classic Car Show 17th to 18th June 2017, Bath and West Showground, Shepton Mallet, Somerset.

The MG Car Club South Western Centre, provide a stand at this prestigious car show for the west of England.  The stand was in the Showerings Pavillion in the usual place and 4 cars were presented; Sue Owst’s MGB GT, Rob Griffiths’s MG TD2, Kingsley Beck’s MGA 1600, and Paul Phillips MGB Roadster.  As usual there were lots of people asking about the cars and the club activities over the 2 days which kept the members manning the stand very busy.

On Sunday the winners of the judging were announced and Kingsley Beck’s MGA won the runner up in the Best Sports or Convertible category.  The stand was then awarded 3rd place in the Club Stand category and I received the trophy on behalf of the club along with a certificate.  The certificate also said that we would receive a cheque for £100 for the club funds.

I would like to thank Dave Mothersdill for transporting the stand components to and from the showground and assisting in putting up and taking down the stand, Andrew Owst for his assistance on Friday, and manning the stand on both Saturday and Sunday, Sue Owst, Rob Griffiths, Kingsley Beck and Paul Phillips for the loan of their cars all weekend.  I would also like to thank Dave Heath and Dave Jacobs for manning the stand on Saturday and Ian Whitfield for assistance on Sunday.  Without this assistance the show would not be the success it has been and I am grateful for their help.

Jim Lott

Chairman MGCC SW Centre.
