AutoAero Charity day SUNDAY 4th July 2010

Welcome to the annual South West MG Car Club Picnic and again the event is at Henstridge airfield in Somerset BA8 0TN. The airfield is a mile and half east of Henstridge village on the A30 and through the industrial estate. Henstridge village itself is roughly half way between Sherborne and Shaftstbury.

This year we shall have our now famous Hangar Tour to catch up with the developments, prototypes and rebuilds at the aero club and a wide range of aircraft will be flying for the day to share the picnic space and those wonderful bacon sandwiches. The mini autotest will run in the morning and afternoon for those who want a bit of driving otherwise you can sit back and relax.

So, please invite friends and family to come along as well as interested members of the public. If any of your friends intend to fly in they can contact me for the details or go straight to the Henstridge website, no prior permission required and both jet and avgas are available.

This time the advance entry and entry on the day is £8 for car and occupants for members and visitors. MG Car Club members are parked in the special paddock next to the flightline and have to opportunity to enter the mini-gymkhana included in the price of entry. This is a chance for old hands to practice or if you have never thought of competitive driving, it’s a great chance to try it out.

As usual any profits will be donated to the Air Ambulance Appeal and local charities. This time we are on the airfield of the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance and their helpers will be coming over with the raffle tin. As usual our fabulous prizes will include a flight in a light aircraft.

We are hoping to light the super sized barbecue, but that depends on good weather, so you are welcome to bring your own picnic. Teas and coffees are available from the burgers etc or fresh rolls and egg and bacon from the clubhouse kitchen.

Come along and enjoy the day, admission to the Event and Gymkhana on the day accepted but advance entry is always appreciated as it makes it easier on the day.
