The day started with a bright sky but a quite a cold wind, but not cold enough to stop driving with the roof down on my MGF. We had a pleasant journey from home in Yate, thorough the back lanes (to avoid the M4 ) past Castle Combe, and quaint sounding villages like Yatton Keynell and Tiddly Wink to name just two. Then through Chippenham, Round the north of Calne, through Goatacre to Lyneham.
We arrived at 09:30 and Martyn was already there with two other South West stalwarts, Pete Hiles and Jeremy Hawke. However Jeremy doesn’t have a road worthy MG at present so was on his Honda Motorbike. Pete was in his TD and Martyn was in his MGB. Several other members of the Lacock Natter arrived in a variety of MGs including a TC, another TD, MGB GT, MG ZS and a couple of MGFs. Lewis Deforge apologised for arriving in his daily BMW, but his MGB has a fuelling issue and had to be left at home.
The Crowns Café, adjacent to the museum, served various breakfast items which were excellent, tasty and reasonably priced, unfortunately, there was only a young lady serving and service was a tad slow (she was rushed off her feet so not her fault). I didn’t manage to get around the Museum as the conversation continued in the Café until we left at midday. Having spoken to Martyn after the event, he suggested another breakfast meet there later in the year, to which I wholeheartedly agree.
