SOUTH WESTERN CENTRE, KIMBER CLASSIC TRIAL Weekend 2010
SATURDAY 17 th APRIL 2010
Attached are the Supplementary Regulations and Entry Form for this year’s event.
The trial will start at 9.15 am from The Sherborne Hotel, Sherborne, Dorset (MR 183 627166) and finish at The Sherborne Hotel in the late afternoon. The Sherborne Hotel is also the venue for our annual informal diner. We have negotiated a very good deal with the hotel for the whole weekend, which includes dinner, bed and breakfast for the Friday and Saturday nights. Please book your accommodation and meals direct with the hotel. Details will be found on the entry form. We also hope that, as usual, local members, family and friends and competitors not staying at the hotel will join us for the Saturday dinner in which case please book your dinners through the entry form.
The trial includes mostly familiar sections and as ever, the route will take you along approximately 80 miles of charming rural lanes with splendid views. The sections and the special tests provide that competitive spice beloved of all true MG drivers, yet remain suitable for all cars whether concours or “well used”. In addition to classes for all types of MG and similar pre-war sports cars, there is a class, with its own award, for non-MG’s.
As last year we have striven to provide a route that is non-damaging for all cars. We believe that we have been able to provide an event similar to that enjoyed by the competitors in the first “Kimber Trial” in 1937. Then Clubmen drove to the event in their everyday cars, mainly MG Midgets and expected them to still be available for work on Monday morning.
On the Sunday morning there will be a Gymkhana at Rocke’s Barn, the home of Barry Foster and Hamish McNinch. Lunch will be taken at the Butleigh Inn 5 minutes walk away. We look forward to seeing you, preferably as a competitor, but failing that as a Marshal. Any offers for marshalling will be greatly appreciated.
