Chairman’s Chat 10th June 2025

Martyn Lucas has been contacted by Eden MG in Swindon.  They would like a few British MG cars on display to celebrate the launch of their refurbished MG showroom on the morning of Saturday, June 21st, there will be coffee and cakes for those displaying their cars.  If you are interested in going along, email Martyn, martyn.lucas2@btinternet.com to let him know.

Today, being the second Tuesday of the month, I joined other SW Centre Members at the White Hart, Iron Acton for a Lunchtime Natter.  9 MGs attended, ranging from an 18/80 to an MG F/TF and the food and chat, as usual, was excellent.  The next Lunchtime Natter will be on Thursday 19th June at the Star Inn, Bristol Road, Star in Somerset.  Full details on the Lunchtime Natter page of the website. The photo below shows 8 of the cars.

This Saturday, 14th June, is the Much Marcle, Naviscat organised by Bob Blackstock for the Midland Centre but based in the South West Centre starting and finishing at Westons Cider Mill, Much Marcle. Full details, regulations and entry form can be found on the Event page Much Marcle Naviscat. I have entered for this year’s event and Simon, my navigator and myself are really looking forward to it.  Looking at the entry list I have been sent today, 13 cars are taking part.

The SW Centre Summer Picnic is the event after the Naviscat. This will take place on Sunday 22nd June at the East Somerset Railway. Information can be found on the event page Summer Picnic.

Also on Sunday 22nd June, we have had an invitation from the Minehead Motor Club for their Ellicombe Autotest on grass.  This is an excellent venue for auto testing as it is a rugby training pitch and therefore is quite smooth and non-damaging.  Full details on the event page, Ellicombe Autotest.

The next breakfast meet organised by Martyn Lucas, will take place at the Compton Abbas Airfield and there should be some aircraft flying in as well.  Full details are available on the event page Cars and Coffee at Compton Abbas.

Until next week
Jim Lott
Chairman, MGCC SW Centre
