Summary; BW Mem AutoTest report, April Event, 90th Anniversary Year, Centre Facebook Page
19th April – Bruce Weston Memorial Autotest on Grass – Event Report – As this is the Centre’s 90th anniversary we dedicated the event in memory of Bruce Weston. Bruce for many years, was the backbone of our Centre, being chief organiser of the Wiscombe Hill Climb, the Kimber Classic Trial and the two Production Car Trials we held.
We had 10 entries, including 1 from Minehead Motor Club and 3 from Bristol Pegasus motor club. Bruce’s son Mark and Granddaughter, Erin, drove Bruce’s TC to the event and marshalled a special test laid out as Bruce’s initials, B. W. which proved a challenge for a few competitors. There was a charity collection for the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance, a charity chosen by Mark, as Bruce was a keen supporter. The collection raised just over £100.00 and as some competitors didn’t have any cash (the modern way these days), I have set up a just giving page for the donations to continue. If you would like to donate in memory of Bruce, then please click here for the The Just Giving link
There is a full report and Results at this website link.
Photos of the event are available at https://carolebrown.co.uk/mgccswbwmem/ Password BWmem for the next two weeks
Our next Autotest is on Sunday 9th August and this will be dedicated to Dave Coppock, another long serving member of the Centre and the previous organiser of the Autotest at this venue.

90th Anniversary Year 2026 – 90 for the 90
The entries for the ’90 for the 90’ challenge are coming in. We have had 27 photos (including my first one for the Autotest last Sunday) posted to the website The oldest car is an MG 18/80 and the newest is a 2023 MG Motors HS
As the weather is improving, don’t forget to take your birthday card with you when you are out and about in your MG. The ’90 for the 90’ challenge is easy, just select a destination from the list in the birthday card, take a digital photograph of you, your car, your birthday card and the location as evidence of your visit and submit a claim and photograph using the claim form accessed here. We are not expecting you to visit all the 90 places, but there could be a prize for the MG car that visits the most different venues.
90th Anniversary Summer Picnic
The Committee are making plans for the Summer Picnic, being held on 19th July, in the field next to Dave Mothersdill’s house in Tockington. There will be a live band, ‘The Falcons’, and also a ladies choir, ‘In Accord’ to entertain, a free Pride of Ownership competition (a charity donation would be most welcome) , and ‘A Cook It Yourself Gas Barbecue’ so far. We are also trying to source some Pub Garden games, if anyone knows where we can borrow/hire some please get in touch.
All items in the Clothing Store are now available with either the normal South West Centre Logo or the new 90th Anniversary logo. Select the item you require, T-shirt, Polo shirt, Sweat Shirt, Premium Cap, Beanie, Hoodie, Fleece Jacket, Softshell Jacket, Shell Gilet, Soft Padded jacket, soft padded gilet or long sleeved shirt, then select the colour and size and then you have the option to select which of the two logos you require. It couldn’t be simpler. Very suitable attire to carry out the ‘90 For The 90’ challenge.
