Chairman’s Chat 20th June 2021

With the extension to the Government Covid regulations, we have had to change the visit to the Middlewick Open Gardens to a non MG points scoring event. I have left it on the calendar as some people have already booked tickets, which is now a requirement for the event so they can limit numbers. They cannot now provide dedicated parking for the MG Car Club so we have changed the event status.

Also due to the lockdown extension, we have moved the Summer Picnic date from Sunday July 4th to to Sunday August 22nd, The venue remains the same at the East Somerset Railway, check the event page for more details,

I have been able to add two events to the Calendar, however, the first is the Pip ‘n’ Jay Classique Road Run, Included in the entry fee of £30.00, is a breakfast with a bacon roll or toasted tea cake and tea or coffee at the start and a cream tea at the finish. The start and finish is in the village of Burtle, on the the Somerset Levels. Profits from the run will go towards the upkeep of the Burtle’s Parish Church – St Philip and St James, which, like most buildings, has suffered from a lack of income throughout the Covid period. Details can be found by clicking here https://www.mgccsw.com/pip-n-jay-classique-road-run-sat-aug-7th/

The second event I have added is the Triumph and MG weekend at the Three Counties Showground, Malvern from 13th to 15th August (https://triumphandmgweekend.com/) which will include the California Cup Autotest, being held on the Saturday 14th August. Details of how to enter can be found here https://www.mgccsw.com/triumph-and-mg-weekend-california-cup/

We were hoping to start of monthly Natters again from July 1st, but as the Government have extended the Covid Lockdown Regulations until 19th July, we are not able to start them now until 1st August. I will keep you informed by the website if there are any other changes.

Stay Safe and Safety Fast
