Chairman’s Chat – 29th March

I’d like to thank for the comments and emails I had last week following my first chairman’s chat, its really nice to see that the Marque of Friendship spirit is very much alive and well here in the SW.

On Saturday I made my way up to Oxford for the MGCC Council meeting, for those of you not familiar with how the club run, council meetings which happen several times a year are a meeting of representatives from all the club’s Centres, Registers and Branches alongwith the Board of Directors and staff from Kimber House. Council reviews and votes on all matters to do with the running of the club. It was great to here details of both this year’s MG Live event at Silverstone and plans for celebrating 100 years of MG next year.

Tickets for MG Live are on sale now and members can get a discount by entering your membership number in the promo code box. Details of the centenary celebrations will be announced soon in Safety Fast so look out got details soon. Here in the SW we will be running a number of special events again details to follow.

Added to the website this week we have a request from Bruce Weston for marshals to help assist with the MCC Trial in June. We need volunteers to help marshal a section of the route at Batcombe hill, familiar to many as a section used on the Kimber Classic Trial. No experience is needed, see here for more information.

Also on the site this week is an email from a member asking for help tracing parts for his MGB, if you can help or if you have a problem you think the SW Members might be able to help with please do get in touch

I hope with the nice weather of the last weeks you’ve been able to get out and enjoy your cars, I’ve managed a few test drives ahead of my first sprint event of the year this weekend at the Midland Centre event at Curborough, here;s hoping the good weather lasts, at the same event last year competitors arriving were greated by a (thankfully short) burst of snow!

Hello, my wife and I will visit South England in our MG TD 1951. We leave Denmark at 23. may and drive to Calais-Dover. Then we drive from Dover to Lands End, and if You are planning a one day tour, maybe we could join.
If you know a good bed and breakfast, we would like to hear about it.
