Chairman’s Chat – 26th July 22

Last weekend we ran our MGs on Grass 2 autotest, organised by Dave Coppock, we had a good mix of cars from T-Types, Midgets, Bs through to Fs & TFs along with a few non MGs showing that the event like these are suitable for cars of all ages.

The results are now on the website with a report and photos coming soon, congratulations to Chris Pelmear for winning his class and setting the best time overall for an MG. Thanks to Dave for organising, events like these don’t happen without someone putting in the effort beforehand, thanks must also go to the marshals who gave up their time and are essential to making the event happen on the day.

Our next competitive event is Wiscombe Hillclimb in September a great spectator event offering a great chance to get up close to the drivers as they tackle the narrow technical course and chance to explore the paddock throughout the day. This will be followed by our Production Car Trial in October, like MGs on Grass the event is designed for beginners and suitable for many cars without modification or prior experience. Entry details will be going on the website this week and I’ll share the link and more about how trials work next week.

Finally for this chat a reminder that this coming Saturday ( 30th ) the centre will be at Castle Combe helping Bristol Pegasus celebrate their 75th anniversary, we’re aiming to put on a display of cars spanning the history of Pegasus, already we have cars from the Vintage era through to a racing ZR but there’s still time to join the display with your car. For more details about the event see here if you’d like to come along then please just drop me an email.
