Chairman’s Chat – 12th July 22

I hope everyone else is enjoying the top-down motoring weather we have at the moment. A few years back after I stopped driving to work and bought a campervan to tow the race midget, I swapped my sensible Ford Focus for a modern TF. Whilst it might not always be practical for a trip to B&Q or the recycling centre I must admit on a work trip this week driving through the country roads in Devon, sun shining, top down it was definitely worth it!

The TF had another run out today as in a very rare occurrence my work diary allowed me to to escape the home office to the White Hart lunchtime natter for an enjoyable catch up. During COVID natters were obviously cancelled but we’re back up and running now, if you haven’t yet made your return or you’ve never been before check out out list of natters in the area – https://www.mgccsw.com/natters/

The Lacock natter held at the The Bell Inn every second Tuesday of the month is on the look out for a new leader, Mike Halliday who has for many years coordinated that natter is stepping down if you would be willing to take over or would like to know more let me know, or contact Mike whose details are on the natter page.

Moving on to competitive events last week I mentioned MGs on Grass 2 entries would be opening soon, this week I can say they’re now open and you can find details about how to enter here – https://www.mgccsw.com/event/mgs-on-grass-2-autotest/

As well as the traditional entry forms we’ve added an online entry and payment using eventbrite. Its the first time we’ve tried an online entry system so please let me know how it works if you use or if you have any problems.

Finally the MG Speed championship will be visiting our region this weekend, I’ll be racing elsewhere with another championship but if you would like check out the other drivers and a wide variety of other machinery at Gurston Down near Salisbury then visit http://gurstondown.org/ for details, if there is interest then next year we could organise a social run to this or other SW rounds of the championship
